One of the questions that need to be considered by any parent of a child with special needs is the future. Today you are there, and you know and your spouse knows what your child needs, what their likes and dislikes are, what their unique medical conditions are. You know what before the child even asks. But will this apply to someone else who may be tasked with handling your child or caring for your child after you are not there any more? After your spouse is not there any more? Have you factored in all the pros and cons? Have you put together a financial plan and an action plan, a will, a communication plan, a transition plan for when the child may need to be cared for by someone else other than you AFTER your time?
